The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL) published an interesting article “Everyday Leaders, Everyday Leadership” discussing research they conducted into the lives of everyday leaders, people in home schools and communities. CCL describes the everyday leadership.
A Google search for the term leadership yields about 3 350 000 000 results! An Amazon search yields over 50,000 results for books on the subject. Wow!
Stogdill in the “Handbook of Leadership” after reviewing over 3,000 leadership studies noted that “there are almost as many different definitions of leadership as there are persons who have attempted to define the concept”.
There’s a long history of interest in the topic of leadership. Despite this trying to find a clear definition of leadership remains challenging. Each author approaches the topic from a different perspective. How can we develop as leaders when there seems to be so little agreement as to what leadership is all about?
